Reimagining Neighbourhood Spaces
Since the 1980s, the Housing and Development Board (HDB) has faced criticisms about the monotonous and faceless environments of their public housing neighbourhood spaces.
Thus, Reimagining Neighbourhood Spaces is a project exploring the opportunities of placemaking in Singapore’s public housing neighbourhood spaces. Through various research methods to gather residents’ first-hand opinions and ideas, placemaking recommendations and three proposed designs of neighbourhood spaces were created. The project seeks to foster discussions on how everyday neighbourhood spaces could be turned into more meaningful and identifiable places for the residents, to strengthen their sense of belonging to their neighbourhood.
